Virtuoso is named World’s Youngest Professional Guitarist
New York, NY – The Guinness Book of World Records has named 8-year-old Yuto Miyazawa the youngest professional guitar player on the planet. The single digit phenom, who plays a Flying V guitar that is literally larger than his tiny frame, has had quite a week to say the least. He was featured on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and jammed with The Max Weinberg 7 in front of a national television audience and then performed in front of 15,000 people at the Gathering of the Vibes music festival in Connecticut. But it’s all in a day’s work for the young virtuoso. At an age when most kids are struggling to learn “Chopsticks”, Yuto was busy shredding note-for-note renditions of his favorite rock anthems by the likes of Ozzy, Clapton, KISS, and Metallica. Once audiences in his native land of Tokyo, Japan began to take notice, it wasn’t long before he was on his way to the United States this past May for a string of high-profile performances in New York City. Before he knew it, young Yuto was trading licks with the legendary Les Paul, who is more than eighty years his senior. He also shared the stage with former Saturday Night Live bandleader GE Smith, sat in with Chris Barron of The Spin Doctors, and made a surprise appearance with jamband stalwarts Galactic at a sold out concert in the heart of Times Square. As word quickly spread throughout the live music community, several videos of Yuto started popping up on
Youtube and almost overnight he was an Internet sensation.
